Sotto’s Plagiarism Issue Revisited Anew after Taguiwalo, Single Moms Insult

After netizens and other women’s rights groups lambasted Senator Tito Sotto for insulting DSWD Secretary Judy Taguiwalo, netizens shifted on unearthing Sotto’s alleged plagiarism issue.

On 2012, Social media user Michel Eldiy called out Sotto, accusing him of only translating parts of a speech originally delivered by the late US Senator Robert F. Kennedy.

Although Sotto apologized latter, netizens are not contented and continue to condemn Sotto for insulting not only Taguiwalo, but all single mothers. Fellow celebrities like Lea Salonga also condemn people who insult single mothers.

On his FB page, user Michael Carbonel called Sotto a “nonsense Senator who always commit deliberate mistakes”.

Leila Acosta also urged Sotto to resign from senate because of his unbecoming attitude towards women. “Mr. Sotto, huwag mong ikumpara ang buhay ng mga pribadong tao sa buhay ng celebrities, na kahit magpalit-palit sila ng asawa ok lang basta sikat sila. Sama ng ugali mo. Magresign ka na lang”, Acosta said on her instagram post.
